How to be Clutter Free

I always considered myself a clutter-free person. Perhaps even a neat-freak at times. Because as my ambitions took me travelling far and wide - never staying in one place for too long - I always tried to have minimal baggage and junk with me - in every sense of the word. As my lifestyle changed over the years and I found myself with a family and the desire to stay in one place and buy a first real home, I brought my clutter-free style with me. Or at least I thought so.

OK, I don't have much stuff, at least I don't have much stuff that can be seen. But it's amazing how much stuff one can squeeze into a box, and how many boxes one can poke into a disused corner, and how many corners one can find. All of a sudden, after years of working, travelling and now family life, I realize my clutter-free style was not so clutter-free as I had imagined. And whilst I am still rather a neat-freak, it's the clutter which is put away so very neatly that's the problem. It was time to get real and take a good look at my clutter. All of it: the good, the bad, and the ugly. And let's face it - junk can be intimidating.
