How to install a Roman blind

So you have finished sewing your roman blind, and are now ready to install it at your window. Here's how:

  • Measure and cut the correct number of lengths of cord required, according to the number of strips of looped blind tape across the back of the fabric.
  • Attach each length of cord firmly with a knot to the bottom loop of each strip of blind tape.
  • Thread the cord up through each loop to the top of the blind.
  • Screw L-shaped wall brackets to your top battan. Check the position so that the brackets will then be able to be fixed to your window frame.
  • Screw eyes to the underside of the batten, lining each eye up with each cord position on your blind.
  • Thread each cord through it's corresponding eye, then across through each of the other eyes to your chosen side edge.
  • This will be the edge where you pull the cords to raise and lower the blind.
  • Knot the cords together and trim the ends to an appropriate length.
  • Mount the blind against your window frame screwing the L-brackets firmly in place.
